Rosalia Arteaga

 

Rosalia Arteaga was born in Ecuador. She is the first woman to have held the positions of Constitutional President and Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador. Former Secretary General of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization, she also served as Deputy Minister of Culture and Minister of Education.

 

Arteaga is a lawyer, Doctor of Jurisprudence, and holds a degree in Journalism, and an M.A. in Anthropology.

 

She served until 2007 as a member of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia Britannica, as well as director of Natura Regional Foundation.

 

She was, until 2012, a member of the Executive Council of Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) in Costa Rica, as well as was named “Latin Women of the Year 2015” by We Care for Humanity Organization.

 

Currently Arteaga is member of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences, serves as member of the Board of the Library of Alexandria in Egypt, also became a member of honor of the Royal Academy of Doctors of Europe, Member of the University of Miami, External Advisory Committee and President of the Advisory Board of COFUTURO Foundation.

 

As well, she is CEO of FIDAL Foundation and Executive President of A.S. Productions, High commissioner of Panamazonia in Manaus, Brazil, and Senior Executive Education Advisor of the China U.S. Business Associate.

 

Professor Honoris Causa of the University of Tarapoto, Perú and the Fujian University Traditional Chinese Medicine and Honorary Doctor by International University of California.

 

She has published books of essays, poetic prose, poetry, and tales, children’s and adolescent literature.

 

Her poems and stories appear in anthologies circulating in Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain and Ecuador.

 

A very active woman, Arteaga gives conferences, impulses education and preservation of our environment and writes for newspapers and national and international magazines.effortlessly in all her roles.
